International Conference on Science and Technology for Sustainability 2026 - Enhancing Trust in Science: The Role of Science as a Public Good in Policymaking

For whom should science be used in policymaking?
What can science and policy do together for a sustainable society?

This conference focuses on fostering collaboration among stakeholders so that science can be trusted by society and function as a “public good” that contributes to policymaking. Specifically, the conference will examine, from a broad range of perspectives, how science, policy, and society should work together, with particular emphasis on the following three pillars:
• Promoting participatory science communication to build societal trust in science
• Establishing Transparent and Responsible Science and Technology, with a focus on AI
• Ensuring Sound Linkage between Science and Policy
Through these discussions, the conference aims to enhance mechanisms for incorporating scientific knowledge into policymaking and to build foundations that support the resolution of societal challenges and democratic decision-making.
