Science Council of Asia
The Science Council of Japan has promoted academic cooperation in Asia by hosting the Asian Conference on Scientific Cooperation (ACSC) from 1993, inviting scientists from across the region.
In 2000, this initiative was developed into the Science Council of Asia (SCA), which now brings together 31 member institutions from 18 countries and regions, with its secretariat hosted by the Science Council of Japan.

The 24th Science Council of Asia Conference
From November 16 to 18, 2025, the 24th Science Council of Asia (SCA) Conference was held in Islamabad, Pakistan, and online, hosted by the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.
The conference was held under the theme “Food Security, Sustainability, and Biodiversity.” More than 150 participants from approximately 20 countries and regions took part, engaging in wide-ranging discussions from diverse and interdisciplinary perspectives through various programs. During the Board Meeting and General Assembly held within this period, the SCA Declaration of the 24th Conference was adopted unanimously. The next conference is scheduled to be held in November 2026 in Cambodia and online, hosted by the Institute of Technology of Cambodia.
