The Science Council of Japan  Conference on Sustainability 2005
"Dynamism and Uncertainty in Asia"






The Science Council of Japan organizes a series of annual conferences on sustainability and articulates the accomplishments as policy proposals to governments. This year, the Conference focused on Asian politics and economy under the theme of “Dynamism and Uncertainty in Asia”.

The Conference invited about 20 overseas speakers. 100 domestic and overseas participants attended the Conference.

The Conference concluded that scientists must collaborate to deal with challenges comprehensively, seeking more effective and strategic solutions for the realization of sustainable society in Asia by implementing science, technology and innovation to solve problems related to politics, economy, social systems and security.

At the end of the Conference, the Chairman’s Statement was adopted, incorporating the challenges scientists and the scientific community should endeavour reflecting the discussions on the balance of economy and environment.
